Biology/Pathology 426 (renumbered from 134) “Biology of Blood Diseases” (for advanced undergraduates and graduate students), course director and sole lecturer. An introduction to the biology and pathophysiology of blood and the molecular mechanisms of some human diseases: anemias; leukemias, lymphomas, multiple myeloma; hemorrhagic, thrombotic, and vascular disorders; and HIV disease/AIDS. [course is now located on Blackboard.unc.edu]
“Hematology-Oncology”, (for 2nd year medical students), Block Head along with co-Block Directors Dr. Alice Ma and Dr. Georgette Dent. This course is designed to give an overview of hematology and oncology at the level of the second year medical student. The course consists of basic/clinical science lectures combined with relevant laboratory exercises associated with each given hematologic and oncologic disorder.
